The Westin Tube Steps mounting brackets are powder coated. They use the factory provided running board mounting holes in the rocker panels. I have checked the install instructions for the Dee-Zee and the Pilot Automotive Tube Steps offered for your vehicle, they all mount in the same manner. GM trucks use the body mount bolts as an attachment point, but Dodge uses the rocker panels.

You should have no problem using the Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, # CAB-C5G, on a 1,200 mile trip as long as the gross weight of your trailer remains under 20,000 lbs and the pin weight is under 4,000 lbs.
